First Baptist Church

STATEMENT OF FAITH

Realizing the importance, privilege and responsibility of the preaching and teaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, First Baptist Church believes the following:

1. The Holy Bible, God’s Inspired Word, is the Absolute and Supreme Authority

The Holy Bible is absolutely inerrant, unadulterated, and authoritative in its original autograph.

There is no new prophecy  or new revelation outside of what has already been revealed in God’s written word. (2 Tim 3:16-17; 2 Pet 1:21)

2. The Holy Trinity of the Godhead

One God manifested through three distinct persons. God the Father (Yahweh), God the Son (Yeshua), and God the Holy Spirit. (Matt 3:16-17; 1Cor 12:3; 2Cor 13:14; Matt 28:19)

3. The Biblical Creation

The God of the Holy Scriptures spoke the world into existence and created mankind from the dust and breathed life into his nostrils and he became a living soul. (Genesis Chapters 1 & 2)

4. The Virgin Birth

The Divine conception (seed of The Holy Spirit) and the sinless life of Jesus. (Isa 7:14; Luke 24:38 – 40; Matt 28:18)

5. The Incarnated Word

God became Flesh in the person of Jesus Christ. (John 1:1, 1:14; Phil 2:6 – 8)

6. The Death, Bodily Resurrection, Ascension, and Return of Jesus for His Church

(2Cor 5:21; Mark 15:37; Matt 28:1 – 8; Acts 1:9 – 11)

7.  Man Is Sinful

Man is born in the condition of sin and cannot rid himself of that condition.  Therefore, he is in need of a Savior.  (John 3:16; Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23)

8. Salvation-Eternal Security

Eternal Salvation comes by regeneration and faith alone, a part from any human effort, through profession of faith in Jesus Christ. (Rom 10:9 – 13; Eph 2:8 – 9)

9. The Ordinances of The Church – Baptism and The Lord’s Supper

Water Baptism by immersion symbolic of inward regeneration.  (Matt 28:19; Acts 10:47; John

1:33; Titus 3:4 – 7) The Lord’s Supper symbolic of Jesus’ blood that was shed on Calvary for the remission of sin and for His body which was given for us. (1 Cor 11:23 – 26)

10. The Church is Governed By The Holy Bible

The Absolute Authority of the Holy Bible in the local church governs over any other document (Col 4:16; Acts 17:10 – 11)

11. Sanctity of Human Life

We hold to the Sanctity of Human Life as a Gift from God, and we reject abortion. Life and death are in God’s hands. He is the Author of life. (Zech 12:1; Jer 1:5; Ps 139:14; Isa 44:2)

12. The Biblical Order of the Family

The Biblical order of the family consists of marriage between a male and female only, for propagation of the human race  regardless of what society thinks or does.  (Gen 1:26 – 27; 2:18; Rom 12:2; Matt 19:4 – 6; Acts 5:29)

13. Homosexuality

All Homosexual practice is sinfully perverted as taught in Holy Scriptures.  (Gen 1:27; Gen 2:24; Lev 18:22; Lev 20:13; Rom 1:26 – 27)
